• Before taking Mucinex, you should:
  • Mucinex D is similar to Mucinex DM, although it must be taken more than once daily.
  • You should tell your doctor before using Mucinex if you are nursing or plan on nursing a baby.
  • Mucinex may cause mild side effects. Tell your doctor if the symptoms are severe or do not go away.

Adults and children 12 years of age and older typically take two tablets of Mucinex D every 12 hours. You shouldn't take more than four tablets in a 24-hour period.

Follow the instructions on your package label carefully. Don't take more Mucinex D than is recommended or for a longer period of time than is suggested.


Maximum Strength Maximum Strength Mucinex® D

Users of Mucinex DM Maximum Strength Cough treatment should not crush, chew up, or break in half. They must be swallowed with a full 8 oz glass of water and can be taken with or without food. It can be taken one tablet at each dose timeframe of every twelve hours. Patients should not take more than two pills in a 24 hour period of time. It should also be kept out of the reach of small children.
